Yet there is a mismatch between the people who are working in this area and the diverse society we live in! WIRED worked with Montreal startup Element AI to estimate the diversity of leading machine learning researchers, and found that only 12 percent were women. For AI and ML to be successfully integrated into our everyday living it needs to cater uniquely and collectivley to the needs of the end users.
