Topic: Major Opportunities in Wireless: SmartPhones & App Stores

SmartPhones are taking over the wireless handset market. Unit sales are expected to grow from 40 million now to over 125 million units by 2014 just in North America. There are already six major platforms for SmartPhones (with more to come):
    1) Apple iPhone OS
    2) Google Android
    3) RIM BlackBerry
    4) Microsoft Windows Mobile
    5) Nokia Symbian (with Maemo coming)
    6) Palm WebOS
On top of each SmartPhone platform is one or more App Stores that allow third parties to create and users to easily download applications that have been developed for that environment. This session will discuss the tradeoffs of the different SmartPhone platforms as well as opportunities for developers and users in SmartPhone applications.
